Lay the mortar
upon the wild blue patch
of our boneyard,

I am darkstone,
a pestle of hematite and gooseflesh,
at the threshold that leads to raised climes,

where the sugar ghosts go,

on Fridays,
I can swing my spine and pivot,
to meet the humid eidolon
of the Kingdom of Blemishes,

this silence belies the god
that hovers in my throat,
merciless, and silver-beaded,

an adumbration eclipsed in membrane,

a fossil of sorts,
lay the brick and mud
as midnight cometh,

in its milky corona and nepenthe
and its kooky horses askew on their bridles,
all wild, hungry gray eyes a glitter,

collect in the damp lamplight
and the gypsum hairs on my bare arms
make a banyan tree,

some wrecked thing
rushing like molten glass
to the speaking fissure,

where acoustic strings
stretch as suture in bone,
its body beset and drawn,

hurling itself against your window panes,
as night empties an hourglass
in the hammock of heaven,

and my hands at the sill
hold a tiny snow-owl,
face-up and quivering

its wings bathed in Cocaine and blue milk,
honing its resonance into pure sound,
as it draws an excruciating sob
from its sub-cellular throat,

so fragile,
these exquisite wings,
fossilized to fire salt.

~*~*a quote from one of my fav fairytales, SHREK~*~*~

Shrek: For your information, there's a lot more to ogres than people think.

Donkey: Example?

Shrek: Example... uh... ogres are like onions!
[holds up an onion, which Donkey sniffs]

Donkey: They stink?

Shrek: Yes... No!

Donkey: Oh, they make you cry?

Shrek: No!

Donkey: Oh, you leave 'em out in the sun, they get all brown, start sproutin' little white hairs...

Shrek: [peels an onion] NO! Layers. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers.
[walks off]

Donkey: Oh, you both have LAYERS. Oh. You know, not everybody like onions. What about cake? Everybody loves cake!

Shrek: I don't care what everyone else likes! Ogres are not like cakes.

Donkey: You know what ELSE everybody likes? Parfaits! Have you ever met a person, you say, "Let's get some parfait," they say, "Hell no, I don't like no parfait"? Parfaits are delicious!

Shrek: NO! You dense, irritating, miniature beast of burden! Ogres are like onions! End of story!

~*~*I have always routed for the Monster in fairytales....because of those layers~*~*~  LOL

~love you~

LOL....
I have little knowledge of Donkeys. Yet, we all have our own Ogre's inside of us, and yes, they are like onions. They add flavour, They have layers, sometimes they make you cry....
Love the layers ma'am... always have

Reading poetry can be like unwrapping a gift, and this applies certainly to your writings posted here, bel1e. Of course, I understood this a little bit better after looking up a few of the words. Nice Loren Eiseley feel to this work in particular.

Amazing! Reading this poem made me feel like you were tuned in on my persona, because I just, a few minutes ago, posted a poem "The Beats," and as I read this I envision Ginsberg in some smoke, dank coffehouse in The Village reciting it. Nice work.
