I looked forward to your nightly call
Maybe you thought I was taking you for granted
I know the presence of others
Has made you become disenchanted.

My feelings became deep for you,you have no idea how much
Don't know what to do, I certainly miss your touch.
That day you said you were preparing yourself to lose me.
Did not necessarily leave me with glee.

If you would have just said 'I want you just for me'
The others would be gone, that is a guarantee.
It made me happy to hear that if you wanted a girlfriend it would be me.
It equally saddens me to know that I could not do anything for you to want me in that degree.

I keep asking myself what I could do to bring you to reciprocate the feelings I have for you.
But I can't kid myself because you have made it perfectly clear where you stand.
Although, "love me dammit" would be my command.
I know it is not right to demand.

Our relationship has taught me many things.
Friendship with benefits is not for me.
Heartache is all that it brings.
Love from you was not meant to be.

Don't you see you were the only one I desired?
Desiring me as your one and only was the only thing required.

Yuka, thanks for reading and commenting. Yes, I did find someone who gave me the requirements. This was written a few years back

I can understand caution and perhaps misunderstanding when confronted by a crowd of strangers. I've been set up by bad people for rather untoward things myself that way.

However, seen from a more benign perspective this poem rings very true, is satisfyingly coherent, and was enjoyable and informative to read. Please post more works.
