What Is Poetry? Some claim Poetry is a regimented routine of set rules That one must maintain its strict boundary of poetic etiquette That there are few masters of the wordplay in mastery elocution That must flow in alliterated patterns of rhythmic meter counts. Other claim a more liberated approach of Free Verse mind melts, Where the lines furrow the mind’s marksmanship in quill felt lines That dances among abstractions, perfections, everything in between, Writing the satin silk sails, roaming the mellow moods of ecstatics. The word is the most powerful tool that is in the human arsenal Its s-word point of pinpoint penetration of word worth power point That can make even Goliaths quake aloud with its sling shot delivery That no “Lie” will stand the barrage of questions that seeks divine “Truth.” Truth that so many fear, who hide under secrets, that decay foundations That poets can be the most important element in a Free Speech society. That is why any Totalitarian regimes will try to censor them into extinction, For a poet never surrenders the Civil Liberties of a minds Lady Liberty womb. That special place inside, baring Uni-individual poets. that has a soul of Verse That writes the mental wings of creative cerebral flows of real Poetry. Inner world that has no master, but hemispheres of individual thought, So unique, no other living thing shares this magical world of inspiration. Most agree that in Poetry, a poem does not have just one solid image, Poets must let individual readers ride their spirits into unique conclusions. That a poem reread can blossom in new perceptions in different directions When a simple rose illuminates as a bouquet of very personal meanings. A lot of college educated poets, use seldom used definitions to confuse, Other poets are so simple that they seem to repeat and repeat in others. But it is failure, misery, emotions, De-Termination that make a real Poet For a poet is about struggles in the depth, width, and length of Will Power That in the added height of stature they climb their own mountain Of trials and tribulations That is the real height of Poetry The Uni-Verse within your own soul.
