Rats desert a sinking ship. See the buggers flee. Knowing it is going down They are getting out of town. See another heading out Rahm Emanuel Golden Boy he used to be Now he simply wants to flee. Indiana congressman Says that he is through He is not a happy guy So, to Evan, say "Bayh, Bayh" Same thing in Connecticut See another go. Been around since '81 Now Chris Dodd says he is done. Economic advisor Christina Romer Seems to have advised enough Now that times have gotten tough. Economic council head Larry Summers goes. Harvard's where he wants to be Not the playground in D.C. Budget director fellow Peter Orszag's flown. Cabinet post was not for him Since the future's looking grim. Rats desert a sinking ship. See the buggers flee. Knowing it is going down They are getting out of town. Czar of communications On her way out, too Took on Fox News just for fun. Bye, Anita. You are Dunn. Cybersecurity czar Joined the exodus. Poor Cynthia Hathaway Seems to have gone thataway. Technology advisor Susan Crawford left. It appears technology Isn't what it used to be. Car czar Rattner left his post He ran out of gas. Saw the fellow drive away In a rusty Chevrolet. Green jobs czar Van Jones resigned And we all know why Found a noose around his neck When he tangled with Glenn Beck. Obama hired Phil Carter, Gitmo rights his goal. Prisoners are still around But Phil Carter has left town. Rats desert a sinking ship Heading for high ground. Found out that their pleasure boat Was a thing that couldn't float. |

There has been a bit of an exodus, hasn't there? Not to beat a dead horse, but somewhat reminiscent of the "Haldeman, Ehrlichman" ditties of the long ago. Maybe Mr. Rahm can return to the Freddie Mac trough, if there is still one extant... Oh, well. Hopefully things are going to get better for all of us soon. Thanks for a wry read! |

Deer darling wonderful Deer This is EXQUISITE, I popped in to Facebook to pick up my Uni Council reports, and I get to see this jewel. Truly authentic poetic wonder. I’ve given up writing poetry for the present, University is not all flowers and hearts, its work and having to grind out 12,000 word essays means that the little energy I have left goes on simply keeping my head above water. That does not mean I do not still read I do I just do not normally leave notes to say I visited. I digress as always, YOU darling man are one amazing poet, love this and love the style in which you write. Love and warm mushy stuff As always Mushy X x x x x x x x Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds |

Thank you, Easy1. I share your hope.. Ah, Mushy, you are always a sight for sore eyes! I know you have had other things going and it's really a pleasure to see you appear here. You are unforgettable to all of us here and I still relive the wonderful memories of out poetic get-together way too many years ago...maybe we should do it again???? |

I don't follow American politics that closely because I live in Europe but I really got a good laugh out of this one. You're a master of political satire! |

Good one, Michael! Just hope they aren't replaced with people who are equally bad. Would that even be possible?! |

Balladeer, You need to get on the stump more often, reminds me of a couple of times I did just that(literally) on a stump in my front yard and would carry on to any passersby for a five minute stretch. Feels good to rant, don't it, lol. Doc |

One thing about politics, there's no shortage of rats. While many are jumping ship there are always replacements. At least for now. This is delicious. Ida |

That's for sure, Ida. We can now add National Security Advisor General Jones to the list....and the beat goes on. |

"Yes we can!" is staring to look and sound more like "No we can't! At least not with me." Sir Balladeer, your poetic prowess is perfect for the revolving door of our current politics in play. Hopefully, they'll start figuring out that it's a real job... sooner than later. All the same, an enjoyable read. Peace to you my friend. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |
