Shadows cast as daylight wanes, Silence falls upon the plains, Night-time animals ope' their eyes, With the come of darkend skies. Children called, "Come in to bed," Daytime's creatures long since fled, To their lairs in fading light, To hide from stalkers of the night. I stand below a Kansas sky, In marvel of what I espy, Transformation, light to dark, Newborn stars in night embark. I gaze into the firmament, Vespertine, by goddess sent. |

You know, I'm not generally a fan of rhyming poetry, but this poem is an exception. It is so visual. Here the rhymes add to the luster of the whole scene, which is beautifulally described. Great work. |

Having grown up close to Kansas as I child, I can relate to this sense of change, and wonder, being close to nature, can bring. Eloquently written. Well done. Regards, Novus_Os Life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured. |
