Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

0 posted 2010-09-19 07:50 PM

I am from hauling wood on cold fall mornings
As an outside fire crackles the chill from the air
And creates misty-smoke clouds on a raw day
I am from squabbles, shouts and songs sung
That skirted low-bush blueberry bushes

I am from dishpans and water buckets
And frozen springs in winter
Cold hands warmed by cups of cocoa
While eclectic musical choices spilled
From windows and doors

(Opera danced well with bagpipes)

I am from volatile tempers
Swinging from emotional highs and lows
Harsh words brushed aside
With kisses and hugs and cookies
I am from run-on sentences, belly laughter
And monsters under my bed

I am from the mountains thrust from volcanoes
From an inlet spanning clam beaches
I am from a land that never grows dark
And a land blind to the light
As the north wind drifts doors shut

I am from Lupine and hayfields
And the first Violets of spring dainty in tall grass
I am from horses, dogs and cats everywhere
A life of chaotic joy and tomorrow dreams
I am from a story yet complete

-

Alison

And I`m delighted and humbled that anything I scribble could inspire, A... this is so much better than mine; I adore it

Dear Alison, I love everything in this poem and the above quoted is just fantastic.

I didn't want this to end ... it's so nice to discover more of us. Now and for always Alaska will be associated with Alison in my mind and heart.

Love and hugs, beautiful poetess.

I can't believe that I failed to thank any of you for your replies.  Sometimes, I am just thoughtless.

Thank you - this is one of my favorite poems - thank you.

Hey, Ali?  How did I even happen on this one?  I know you can't take me with you, but you just did.
Love,
