Sunset on the Veranda Sarabande… Sarabande The violins and violas soar. Rising moods and falling light contrast. Both the clouds and palm leaves seem feathers made to soften the scene. And fountain water tries valiantly to transcend into air. It is end of day and the carefree play. Whilst the worriers worry less, sitting in repose on their easy chairs. In view, a beauty, that had been caught between curiosity and poise decides and dips her toe into the warm well. Across the way two men return from afield locked in serious debate upon the winner of their game. I find myself slowly retreating as the shadows grow longer and the call of sweet perfumed wine grows stronger. Sarabande… Sarabande The sun has almost fled the sky wholly. So do come the night fliers that flit about to much annoyance. With little light left to me I seek one last sight to complete the scene. The picture incomplete makes my eyes search and look about almost manically. And then came you, across the veranda. Sarabande…Sarabande The violins and violas soar. Rising moods and falling light contrasts. From the Desk of Bret Callinan |

There is an artist, Steve Hanks, that painted a picture that is the visual to this nicely done poem. My mind immediately remembered his art, through your words. Nicely done. |
