Here she walks with little sway As the grey Victorian skirts adorn her hips and are enough To hide the sun while covering the thighs of passing hours So it rains I cannot see her eyes or the flash that comes with heated rise And these tops of hills conceal the distance of her legs until In some slow parade I find her modest gaze just another way To pass the prayers for one so remotely chaste In Oz it stormed And heart of tin found the wind enough to lift Such crinolines she wore as the flash of clouds Revealed the outlined shape of calf and it sustained The once upon a wish to dream Dorothy again This Eastern Land’s refrain But splattered drops that call the name in mock Of passions knots, debased among the wash of grime From windows without eyes to see how The cut of skirt is designed to add only form To this the shapeless day At odds and evens with the way Puddled remains along the Yellow paved belie the rage That lays within the storms that pass or the crimson splash Of sun upon her limbs when muslin skirts are swirled in storms lift And she having given all the soul within her laugh or moan What covered mirrors these That would reflect upon the saddened face or the grey Of her Victorian trousseau carried as a treasure she has marked With embroidery floss the monographs she wrote Of floods and Mondays pondered the loss that might come From divided heart She does not consider stolen minutes or the heart, but hides the clarity of eyes By dropping veil and lowering gaze to tops of trees And I hear the rustled skirts retreat Then clutching ticket in hand Board the train with direct service according to the ad To Emerald City And Beyond |

I don't recall it raining in OZ, but I do remember the sky would get very dark when that misunderstood witch showed up. (I know a little bit about black clouds following dem witches around) You well know your topic is a favorite of mine, but I particularly enjoyed the splice of lines you utilized here. And yep, "I believe it's rainin' all over the world..." Ever enchanting. Thanks. |

ah... I do not know if in other incernations of Oz it rains or not.. I know the sky wears rain here in greys..not in the colors that came with rain on the plains.... and I know that without the colors... it is a dreer and plain dress she wears. thank you for the eyes ma'am... and the kind words |

This is delightful! I live in the Land of Ahs and I know the storms there. Comes as no surprise in the movie that KS is in black and white. ebm |

Spent 10 years in KS... and from the midwest originally, but now stuck someplace far east of there.. the storms in KS? far different than the rain or storms here... and while KS may be black and white in the film, there is still something to be said for open spaces and the real..... thanks for the read... lol and sorry for the ramble... glad you found something to enjoy in this. |

I know you layered many meanings here, but I love to read it as the grey lady of rains that winters here in the Pacific Northwest More beautiful writing.. enjoyed ~Amaryllis |

Okay, enough. I've read where others tell you to Publish... quoting others I might add. But this is beyond wonderful.... and I could go on, but I submit. Author, Author.... |
