I come to you in penitence,
with redemption pressed against my lips,
bare soled across the arid sands of Shiloh.
Beneath, the catacombs enshrine our bones,
draped in light and bound by skeletal embrace,
We await the veil of flesh to resurrect
the naked heart that once quaked Babylon.

I come to you in abstinence,
to caress the curve of your fallen dress,
as we bathe by the shores of Galilee.
Between, a tower of Babel divides us with defiance,
I've combed its horizon, clawed tooth and nail
and blown mercurial charges beneath its surface
yet I can not pierce the chambers of your sanctum.

"Sandy lands and holidays" ... I appreciate the Holy Lands references, and do know how tough it can be to be a palmer in love with an iceberg. This is good, squarely-built, thinking person's stuff. By all means please do keep composing (and then posting some here for our free reading pleasure).

My first thought was,

"Wow--now this kind of writing will get ya laid in a nunnery."

I was only halfway kidding. Truly beautiful, and it is indeed sexual yet spiritual at once.

*smile*

When you come back, you really come back!

You've a gift, brian madden. It's a delight to read you again.

I'm surprised this poem only has a few views. Excellent writing.

Thank you bel1e.

easy1, "do know how tough it can be to be a palmer in love with an iceberg" I like that image and may rob it for a poem lol. Holyland references kind of creeped into this poem, could be I listening to way too much Leonard Cohen at the time. Thanks for the reply.

serenity, HA ha ha.... Thats is probably the best compliment I have ever got about one of my poems. I'll be here as long as my muse allows it, and thanks as always for your support and reply.

Sunkissed, thank you.

"yet I can not pierce the chambers of your sanctum."

...when we think we are fighting to break into that space...we should stop long enough to notice that we were already in there all along...
