I hope some of you watched "Dateline" tonight and if not try to find the show. Health Care?? I hope all of you people Who thought you were covered Will believe me when I say They just want, you smothered. They don’t care about your life It’s just, the bottom line And if they wait, long enough If you die, then that’s just fine. Just a dollar for a body And, every minute counts But, every minute you don’t live Another dollar, in their accounts. Insurance is not to be used Nobody, wants to make a claim We pay premiums, “just in case” That is our goal, our aim. If you are one of the lucky On Medicare or the VA You know, that “public option” Is one, that, just might pay. That’s government insurance Which we pay for all our life And the people who work for us Don’t have the insurance, strife. If it’s good enough for them (Who promise to watch our back) Then, it’s good enough for all To take up, all of that slack. Insurance should be outlawed That sold, by those companies Who hope, when you are sick Say, “Hurry, and die, please!” I hope the ones, who fight Against, the right to healthcare Need it for them or theirs Will head, that line of, despair. They pay off the politicians And the lobbyists swarm in To convince us we don’t need it And then, they will win again. When you go for an office call And you’re happy they will pay Just wait, until you really need them And, they turn, and walk away. So, just go on believing Keep your head in the sand Until, medical bills destroy you And, the life that you had planned. 1.24.2010 Del "Abe" Jones Mankind's greatest accomplishment is not the revolution of technology, it is the evolution of creativity. copyright 1984 |

I really do not understand American people and their aversion to universal health care. I really wish people would be more humane. |

Yo Earl, Most Americans like the idea of universal health care. It's the insurance industry that promotes the idea that Americans oppose it. It all boils down to dollars and cents. Bobby |

There is no doubt that insurance companies are out for themselves, often at the cost of our health or life. But I take issue with the belief that universal health care is the answer. I have several family members in Canada, and I’m here to say that there is no way I would want to be in their shoes when it comes to needing serious medical care… long waits for necessary life-saving operations, minimal options locally in specialized medicine, and the taxes necessary to run such an program. As for our own government running the program… well, let’s just say that I think their track record does not endear me to such a notion. Ok, time to crawl off my soapbox. Sorry for that. I thought the piece was very well written and true. Clearly it solicited a reaction… always a sign of good writing. Thanks for sharing. |

I am old enough to rememer a time (I was but a wee young lad of 20-something then) when health insurance and decent medical care were available to ALMOST ALL Americans, and at affordable prices. This lasted until about through the early 1990s... If you sincerely want to try and fight off the greedsters who have taken over not just the insurance industry, but so very much of American society since, then more power to you. Personally, I would suggest other approaches than a government takeover. It's always best to have checks and balances. For instance, without tort reform this bill will prove too costly to endure long as the law of the land... |
