I watched the children flee the field, One by one, taking their clothes As they ran to a sea of anonymity. I wasn't sure what a man such as myself Could do to find the right common ground. I continue to sit with the judge and exchange my thoughts and ideas. For each time I see my reflection I see a man slightly folded, but never defeated. For that, I want a field to myself, A place where the trees rise to another sky, Infinitely beyond comprehension, Like a sudden silence amongst a crowded street corner. I want to wait in the shortest of lines, The kind where I can see everything around me Without having to wonder if my ideas Have already been conceived by the Snow that touches down every winter. It is here I wonder where two strangers pass one another, Is a smile a ploy of kindness Or simply an act of flirtation? It is often we lose ourselves In the plight of routine. To lose focus of how we think Instead of how others view our every deed. I still walk amidst the heralded summer, Still wane through the parks with my notebook under my shoulder. Still wonder what's it like to be relevant When everyone else may already have the answers. In the end, it's worth a shot, A small dark cloud Can only hinder my thoughts for so long. It's my fire and humility, Stop my glare if you can. [This message has been edited by Tomer (08-17-2010 08:47 AM).] |

A lot of this is very relevant. Plus, I perceive a possible Moody Blues fan in the author. Many good images here. If I had to choose a favourite it would be the sudden silence of a crowd-passed street corner. |

"a man slightly folded" if I don't read anything else, anywhere today, I read this and it was worth it. this is an excellent poem. |
