The eyes of carnies never did bother me at all, I wished to have the freedom that they had bad reputations all of them knew it and they donned the skin of lesser-blest disabled men. I-knew-that-they-knew how to win; to beat the games we'd play-- they'd spin the wheel and bark: "All bets are placed!" They tapped their feet impatience feigned as their toes kept time and traced the ball to stop upon the space left uncovered by the coin. Yes, I do, still envy them, even with their gap-toothed grins - their yellow eyes with blotch-blood reams which bulge indulgences in gleam those bites of life that burst their seams as cauliflowered noses screamed evidence of death of dreams understanding "games are rigged" I shrugged my life away to them knowing that they would be gone... before the sun saw businessday-- I loved the honest con. |

I love this and the honest con too. I think we shold send a few carnies to Washington to teach them how to run an "honest" con game. Ida |

You're almost spot-on, which is kinda like having the space next to the winner. *wince* I was thinking vaguely politically, although in the past and more locally, when La. citizens had a valid choice--A Nazi former KKK member, or the crooked Edwin Edwards whose informal campaign slogan was "Hold your nose and vote for me!" Ah...the good old days! Thanks for playing--er, reading. *smile* |

By the pricking of my thumbs, in sodden shoes the morning comes... apologies A good read, although you perhaps left out the green spit and those "brave" remarks to nerdy-looking customers. Although, come to think of it, a carny blessed with a ferris wheel is almost big enough to be labelled a circus. |

evidence of death of dreams understanding "games are rigged" I shrugged my life away to them knowing that they would be gone... before the sun saw businessday-- I loved the honest con. the ending truly brings it to a close and tells us too you know..... very nicely written ma'am...and as always a pleasure to read with internal rhyme as well as great imagery... |

serenity blaze - now if the honest cons would go to DC, and show the unhonest cons how to be even somewhat honest, then perhaps we would be in a little better shape. Unfortunately, I don't believe the unhonest cons in DC will ever change... BC |
