Portents of Winter

Wintery gales blow
Over Arctic seas before the end of summer.
Alison will bring us the gifts
Of winter from her Northern land.

I was just reading a bunch of stuff much like this. Those old wives tales quite often accurate. Might explain how the longevity of old wives...eh?

Yep. I'm not saying every old wive's tale is truth, but I do keep myself amused by finding the ones that are true and the scientific reasonings that explain them.

Now. I do believe I have to go buy an electric blanket. (No heat in my room.)

Um, my room is not cold right now, but "in this economy" it's much cheaper to buy off season.

And I am expecting cold weather. Eventually.

*chuckles @ poem and webpage* Good stuff.

A quick 1st of August survey and I see arctic land stations are reporting seasonal temps (30s-50s ºF.), except for Murmansk which I guess is in or near the same stagnant airmass that's been giving Moscow a heat wave lately.

I expect things will be cooling somewhat before the end of northern summer.
