I lay there in the cool green grass My eyes drawn to the sky This blue blanket that rolls on past White clouds whispering by Two deities it binds to Earth To light our dreary way Moon and Sun, whose very worth, Breathes life into the day The wandering two always apart Were once free and in love Until the Sky forced them to part And shed light from above Once in every thousand years The Sky does show mercy Moon and Sun can share some tears Love eclipses over me A moment's joy then Moon has passed Alone just like before Sun rejoins his weary path To wait a thousand more His broken heart has no more fight To work once more he bends And leaves a bouquet for the night Shining at each days end But Moon can't let the moment by Her angers burning strong Futile arrows pierce the sky She glimpses light beyond She makes patterns in these stars It helps the time to fly A love note written from afar For when Sun passes by As I lay beneath the Moon I think, somewhat sadly If I had only me to lose I know I'd set them free I'd pull apart the binding Sky Regardless of the cost I'd break their chains and watch them fly To find the love they've lost Moon's smiling face would shine so bright As she drew near to Sun Night and day would then unite Broken hearts mend as one But on the two must wander They pay the price for life And I can only wonder Do we deserve this sacrifice? |
