This is a poem I wrote during my English class as we went through the short story call "The Red Death". Its basically a story about the Black Plague. This poem is about a specific thing in the story that represents what the story is about. You will understand 100% what this poem means if you ever read this story. But if you haven't, i hope you can still enjoy it!
.
The bell begins to toll
Echoing across the hall
Bringing a silence to the whole
Taking eyes to a single wall

Bewildered is their stare
As still as statues they stand
Stammered as if with no air
While time moves through the sand

In the desecrated room
Lies the home of the sound
Resembling the look of a tomb
With a clock always wound

Hands strike the hour of noon
Emanating from the Pendulum
The Ebony Clock rings its tune
Always turning still their hum
