What A Good Storm Can Do |

The storm just knocked the power out so I light a candle and take advantage of the peace and quiet to contemplate my life, marriage, and how I manage being so alone like this, why it is I wait. I grab a cup of coffee while the burner is still hot, I sit down with a pen and pad to write about the things I've got, focusing on the good, ignoring the bad. As lightning strikes and thunder booms, as the threat of another flooding looms, I'm hungry for your lips, thirsty for your skin, raging inside to be with you again- In storms, I'm partial to certain rooms. I like the ones with windows, the atmosphere they create- just like begging for the creek to rise, to finally gaze into your eyes... and this is why I wait. |

Excellent! And I agree, window rooms on electrical storm days are best. |

Now this was wonderful. Positive and very well written. I know nothing about the relation you and your husband may have, and I don't need to know. I do however know the potential of such a relationship - and to make something positive of it, your Head has to be in the right place. In this piece you show a positiveness that's been missing in many others (not that writing negative aspects is a bad thing). It's very easy to to find fault with something, and sometimes we put ourselves in a position were it's very hard to build, rather than tear down, e s p e c i a l l y when we haven't been positive about anything in a long time, and many times very negative about the situation we've put/or found ourselves in. You know what marriage is, my friend? HARD WORK!! A LIFE CHANGING EVENT! Not hormones. Not love, although both contribute immensley towards us willing to put out the effort that will be needed. And friendship. It's working together to build something that wasn't there to begin with. I love you in my soul and wish nothing but goodness for the rest of your life, my friend, but when it gets the roughest, You may have to give more, at times, than he does; and vice versa: you both have to understand that. Hard work. Respect for one another; THEIR feelings. It takes TWO, not one. I always enjoy reading you, and do more so then you realize. I don't always respond. But I do understand. I know; ..."been there, done that"... relationship wise. And after 35 years I try hard to be upbeat, positive, and work hard to keep what I've got, no matter how it might slap me in the face sometimes. And if you think only roses bloom in marriage, you need to get out now and go back to reading fairy tales. Hard work and respect. Everything else will be icing. j. |

Storms come in all shapes and kinds... sometimes watching them rage can be our own mirror or simply punctuation for the thought we just had... enjoyed ma'am.. on several levels |

easy1, thanks for reading and commenting Jimmy, my friend...I love you in my soul too and know you read, relate, and truly understand. Nothing is wrong in my marriage other than him being a truck driver gone for 2 weeks at a time, not here when I need him. I still try to be positive about that, though it's hard. You're the best! Thanks for being you ![]() Rae, so glad you enjoyed this ![]() Cpat, thank you dear sir, that means much coming from such a fine writer as yourself Eldest, thanks for reading ![]() bel1e, I see your 4 year anniversary here is coming up!!
