A POLICE RESERVIST’S MOTHER’S PRAYER
27 March 2010

Dear God
Please keep these brave
men and women
who do their wonderful job
without payment
over and beyond
their day job
out of their love and caring
for the community
and their desire to serve,
and please,
especially,
take care of the one
who is
my beloved son.

Thank you Bruce.  I am very proud of my son, but it is scary for me when he is on duty, as he is tonight.  People phone him at all hours of the night when he is not on duty and he gets up and leaves his family and goes out to help.

Dear Diana, this truly is a powerful heart prayer poem. It is heard, rest assured.

It's a precious selfless service indeed, that surely has its rewards in form of gratitude too.

Love,
Margherita

Thank you Margherita.  He needs all the prayers he can get, especially seeing that crime has escalated since the World Cup.  Being a police reservist is only one of the unpaid things he does for the community.

What a remarkable son you have! You must be so proud... and yes, so worried.  I understand this well... my own maternal instincts are a powerful force! Be sure to thank him for us.. and I will say an extra prayer that he might be watched over, kept safe.
Best to you~

oh Diana, I know you are so proud of him and yet your heart must be in your throat when you think of him on duty. I will keep good thoughts for him. ¢¾

Thank you so much Amaryllis, Kate, Karilea and Earl.  Yes, I am bursting with pride – and not just about his being a police resetvist, but so many other things as well, but yes, it is very scary.  Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.

Thank you JL and Martie.  Yes, it is a strong prayer, Martie.  Smiles.

He tells me he is cautious, but his idea of "cautious" is not the same as his wife's nor mine.  Smiles.

My granddaughter's husband is a sheriff and in these troubled times I not only worry about him but his family as well. I understand where you are coming from with this heartfelt poem.

My dear Diana, I felt every blessed mot that you so powerfully and prayerfully penned. My prayers are with both you and your beloved son who give so much to your community.

May God and His angels keep watch over your son and his mother. You are both so special.

Thankfully there are those like your son who are so willing to serve. Thankfully there are powerful women, like yourself, who have helped make them this way. Peace to you and yours.

Linda!!! So lovely to see you here!  Thank you for your warm words.  Every time I berate the world for being  full of cold and hard people, I come face to face with a Chris (my son) or a Linda – I think there is a lesson in that for me!!!

Thank you Andrew.  Yes, I know there are a lot of people who think and say “thank goodness for Chris.”  I am not so sure about my being “powerful” though I would like to think I am – I certainly do try.  I like to think that I have helped Chris to be the way he is, but it is my strong belief that one can rise above (or descend below) one’s circumstances and that everyone needs to take responsibility for his/her own actions – normally that is said of bad actions, but it applies equally to the good ones, so I think my part in who my son is, is very small.  Either way, I am verrrrrry proud of him and very grateful to you for your kind words and insight.

You're most welcome, but never sell a mother's influence short.  Truly, for good or worse, we must accept responsibility for our deeds. But it is that early parental guidence that gives us the strength to do so. Yes, your son is the reflection of all he has experienced and chosen to accept into the self, but you provided the foundation from which all else was built upon.

I am delighted not to argue with you.  You made my evening (well, what's left of it - it's 10pm now - but I guess that I will be working on the stuff I brought home from the office for many hours yet, so I will be able to allow myself to feel elated at what you have said for many hours yet).  Actually, I have decided to allow myself to reflect on what you said for quite some time after that too, and bask in my gratitude and the comfort your words bring and the sense of achievement you make me feel.  Thank you, Andrew.
