Nine Months – A Rebirthing

Now comes the new decade
when only ten years ago
a new century came about.

Nine months ago a shattering occurred,
a disruption of decades of given
as given was I to service,
its natural act in daily comings and goings
rising before the sun
sleeping when the moon was high, and

So then a new seed was planted
lingering gratefully in the warm belly
of discontentedness, being harbored
gently beneath shadows of doubt.

Rains fell; summer winds blew;
then the snows came. Still the
discontent lay heavy, even as a wayward
smile graced the newly laid lines around
eyes of aged disbelief.

But what truly fed the seed was the deeply
restrained inner faith that laid just under
the seed; as the seed grew, the faith was
hidden in yet darker shadows…but it
fed the seed, even as the shadows of doubt
grew weaker, the discontentedness turned
now outward to dissipate like frail breath
released in ice chilled air.

I took up this morning a gift…
even as the pains of rebirth grew stronger.
The gift of words of a poet
from a poet, that I should

Regenerate my daily song
As if it were a child close to my breast;
Hold the words from the gift
That I should so choose my way again,
To embrace life anew;
To see new gains in this latter part of
A sixth decade, and beyond.

“I love all beginnings, despite their anxiousness and their uncertainty, which belong to every commencement. If I have earned a pleasure or a reward, or if I wish that something had not happened; if I doubt the worth of an experience and remain in my past – than I choose to begin at this very second.
Begin what? I begin. I have already thus begun a thousand lives. Rilke, Early Journals”

You are indeed a wise woman,  and your heart bestows a gift and makes a difference.

I so love the idea that we touch other peoples lives without ever knowing how deeply we move them, and for that I thank you.

Happy New Year Karilea~

I love new beginnings no matter how scary they are, as they create such an adrenalin surge.  I love the feeling of that fear that propels me forward to do it in spite of it!  It's the challenge.  Then, it's the fact that you know you tried right?  Good luck in your new beginning, and who knows this door may open to even more doors?

Sissie...I believe we create our lives, one minute at a time.  So many come and go and grow us into who we are and what we will become.  I see a new happiness and surity in your poem....Happy New Year!!

A manifesto profound to enduring faith, and the how it vanquishes doubt and uncertainty. I am uplifted by a double portion of "Sunshine" in this, the 7th decade of my journey. Thanks for sharing such redeeming words of wisdom, enriched by the power of the art we love, and labor to perfect.

Karilea,We do our best to plant and cultivate the seeds we are most interested in, usually pleased with the beautiful crop. But then we some how discover, in some way, even an unhappy occurrence. There is more out there and we look outside our comfort zone to discover what it is and where or how we can find it. So often we find that what we once thought was what we really loved was but only one fragment of what we can acomplish and that there are many ways to enhance our abilities.
Go forth with your head held high and your ablilites to do all that you can. good luck. jo

Thank you, dear friends. It was a miserable experience, but worth it all in the end...

because I begin again. Hugs to all of you,
I cherish you more than you could realize.

Dear Karilea that is a very interesting

write my dear, something that you didn't

just dream up in five minutes. A lot of

thought was needed for such a post.

You wrote it well. Love and a big hug.

No, my dear Lindsay, I did not dream it up
in five minutes.

It took a lifetime of trying to understand
things which I'm still not sure of...
and a voice to which I was aligned with
by a kind poet, so that I might learn
even more.

I missed this one, my bad!

Love the way you can put words and meanings together so succinctly and profound.

Enjoyed.
