kinda long but also from about 10 years ago. On this dark and lonely night, Nothing is going on. No one is here To comfort my fears. No one knows What I’m going through. But as for my fears, They are still here. It is quiet but There are so many sounds, But not a one that I want to hear. I want to hear your voice Although you aren’t even around. You have never been so far away But, yet have never been so close. Nothing that I do Will ever change The fact that I love you. Nothing will ever change me. Because I am but a pawn In this game of chess. My heart is the king And my mind is the queen. But the key to this game Is not to win but is to loose. My queen has already been taken And I am but one move away From checkmate. I am uncertain Of what move I should take. I see the move And take the chance. And as I sit in checkmate I realize that I have lost it all, And that love has prevailed. That is what always happens In this game of chess. |

Very interesting and thought-provoking (no pun intended). Almost like two poems, one for loneliness and the sounds, and one for the excellent chess/love analogy. I'd wish to read a newer version with the two more connected, perhaps by a few bishop's long-slanting words, or some knight hopskips between forward and back lines... |
