With Father's Day coming up, my oldest son, Harvey, has been talking non-stop about my fiance becoming his step-father. This poem just sort of flowed from that. Fathers come into your life In so many different ways Some by blood And a select few By their own choice Those are the most special They’re in your life Because of love Love for the child Love for the mother A family created Out of love... Harvey seems just as excited as Vince and I about the upcoming wedding, my youngest, Zaine, isn't old enough to understand the concept just yet, but Vince has effected him in so many ways. "Don't love me dispite my flaws, but because of them" |

A very heart-warming poem on an original subject. Yes, step-parents and recomposed families are very much a part of our world. This is something of value to approach in poetry. Thank you. |
