The old men stand proud before the scattered crowd. The battered warriors of half-forgotten wars. With trembling hands they salute the flag and recall their youth lost on foreign shores. A marching band plays and speeches are made on this solemn day of remembrance. Some reflect on the victories but most remember the losses and grieve for those who lie beneath the miles of white crosses. Ida Werrett |

hello Ida, as a french I don't celebrate this day, but I can feel it is an important day for US...The poem has a sweet serenity and share gracefully a kind of ceremony...sober and efficient, I just realized that the word Lie at the ending could generate differents meanings that bring sense too. have a nice day yann |

Most the world should celebrate and honor this day, many countries are honored not only by their loss of brave men and women, but of what this country has sacrificed to help other countries be free. Well done March. |

The stark reality is riveting and the underlying saddness is deeply felt. Bless you, Ida~ |
