Lovely Goodbye In the moment that seemed so short A life you finally lived You chose to sing a lovely song it made drummers drum and the dancers dance even the fiddler played round the table of those unloved Under the harvest moon, That knew your name You stood up when it hurt to sit Smiled when the darkness Seem the darkest Invited us to your home Somewhere where there was no pain We baptized you with our tears And confessed our love for you Wishing that you had more time But as the years have come and gone Your courage remains with us As we remember that lovely song That made the drummers drum The dancers dance And the fiddler play... ....into that night. In memory of a beloved friend Don |

And the memory lives on - through you. Very well done. It made me wish to have been a friend as well. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, |

A really beautiful elegy. I love the dance and music metaphors. You have turned death and departure into joy and courage. Bravo! |

It is lovely elegaic poetry imho. I know the "baptized" image goes with the liquid tears, but I believe "consecrated" would somehow work as well. |
