I am stained by pomegranate wine watching the sun and birds crack my skin recalling how I sucked each seed until my tongue was red and my fingers held the color I spent when persimmons sucked my mouth dry and yet each morning's mirror holds the sweet gloaming sound of the sun slipping up into another rising and I hear where doves hide under rafters loving feathers playing musical rooftops with the soft snore of a dog the same my finger's still hold the pomegranate's stain [This message has been edited by Martie (05-14-2010 04:32 PM).] |

Such a beautiful observation and one that transports the reader right by your side to see your sights, thank you for the seat... Goldenrose. Friendship is Love without his wings. Lord Byron. |

time stains our hearts like nicotine dyes fingers and the once green fruit that ripened within our limbs is now sienna, and ready to fall but like persimmons they can't be plucked early so we wait for them to drop in their own time and to be culled from the ground up. Jeff In tribute to your fine writing skills, Martie, as also are my hellos and best wishes to you. |

Goldenrose...I was inspired by you to use that beautiful word, "gloaming" Jeff....I love what you said, it's what I meant...I'm blessed by you and your friendship. |

Smiling...I remember my first pomegranate...found it at the Farmer's Market of my youth. I loved the pearly red seeds... just touching their jewel-like skin was remarkable enough. As are you. |

This one is rich with flavor. I like the style, flow, and word choice. As for those persimmons, might I suggest switching to the one that doesn't come to a point. I can't remember what they are called, but at least they don't suck every ounce of moisture out of your face when you eat them. I learned that lesson the hard way. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |
