Count your blessings one by one. Count the stars the moon the sun. Count your daughter's hug and kiss, for these are what you're bound to miss. Sure you've fingers and you've toes, a pair of eyes and a protruding nose- but have you love in your heart that's still? You say you never have and never will. You're proud to say that you don't care- yet, are jealous of a loving pair. You forever seek what you do not want, you tease and taunt and flirt and flaunt. Yet, there's a loneliness in your soul- a deep chasm, a gaping hole. You were hurt deep so long ago. You've learned to put on quite a show. But, you are not as cold as you claim to be. For, it too, is a mask for the world to see. "Ya have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your prince... just watch out for all the pond scum!!!" |
