The sun slid in its envelope so slow so fast I nearly missed the opportunity to lick the glue upon the sleeve of this-- another day tucked into bed, with one more night to cry as I go through stacks of canceled mail looking for the stamp through lines which note as proof, that time exists: in search of one rare find. |

tsk...I wish I could see through everybody else's eyes. *grin* I look at this and see bad grammar, noun-verb disagreements, and if I wasn't already feeling beat up, I'd kick me.  But thank you all for your generosity, yet again. Ya'll are all so loverly.  (and  for D.S.) |

I used to collect stamps with great earnest, licking hinges to hang the latest find. Little did I know that such acts would lead to their devaluation. Know that your words are a rare find… the black New Guinea penny of poetry. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

Those rare finds are even more so today... stamps costing what they do. Time being what it is. Decades ago with first husband, we were left with the property of his parents when they moved to Florida for their health. When I say property, I mean that we were left with the house and the payments, for which we were grateful; and we were left with everything else as well. They packed light, moved fast. They were still living with their memories alive. We came by and upon an old trunk...and old letters. From his father, to his mother, while father was overseas. For these were love letters from abroad, containing words not meant for our eyes, nor love meant to be spied upon, even decades later. I guess I wish now, if I could do it over...I would have put those in my bags before the departure of that lifetime.  |

Well, Kari...you must have used that third eye of yours, because you managed to pinpoint the source of my inspiration. All those cards, the letters, some with some very unlikely postmarks...I was cleaning and I just can't throw them out, yanno...and this is what came of that particular drawer perusal. (She has the loveliest handwriting.) Thanks again, and um, after going through those cards, the notes and letters, I have to say that I don't think there's anything wrong with Hallmark poetry. I cherish them all. *smoochies* |

Karen, I found your answer interesting because I have just recently cleaned out some old things. I have dozens of letters and have to reread them and try to toss some. I find it hard to do. Over the years I wrote to pen pals so have stamps from 1943 and on up. Those were from the days when we had two deliveries a day and I always had letters in each delivery. When I moved to Florida I had to throw away a large black plastic trash bag filled with old pen pal letters I had read over first. I cut the stamps off envelopes and some envelopes I kept. Now I have to go through more, this group is from family and close friends. I find it so hard. I have a stamp book and a cigar size box full of canceled stamps. An old letter from World War two which was pre-read and reduced to a small little piece of blue paper. I have some I just can not throw away,so they will have to wait until my kids clean up and toss them into a dumpster. jo, |

*beaming* I'm not sure if it compares, but I have envelopes stamped by the government from Huntsville State Penn--with each page within stamped as well with "content scanned"--but only on half--the first three years. *smile* I guess me and my correspondent bored em the next year and half.  No way in hell will I let those go. Btw? I have run out of thumbtacks! (Cards make for a great wallpaper if you are too weary to paint.) Love you all. |

Kari? Your handwriting is all the more impressive because I know that you also took shorthand. Prior to learning that stuff, I had a more stylistic edge to my own, not quite pretty but something close to comic sans. Once I learned the shorthand system, while my shorthand was actually pretty, my penmanship now is barely legible. And shrugs. I feel tired but chatty today. More funeral yanno. I think after this one, I'll go shopping for a new funeral wardrobe...and the beat do go on, don't it? love you lady! I think I'm gonna go watch the House marathon later and do my nails. I'm out of zanax, I'm out of whine, so I'll just leave you all with a thank you and a teensy word of advice, or maybe just a caution?If you allow time to pass without fixing some stupid petty thing in your relationships, you may have to spend the rest of your life feeling conflict and remorse. Don't let that happen if you can help it. I love you guys and gals. |

See Kiddo? As much as it sucks to have people care about you, your mail treasures are at least addressed to YOU! Mine always are either addressed to Mr. Pant (as in Occu Pant) or they are bills. ...and, oh yeah...you should publish...also. |
