Some nights Bones gets fed up with selling it on the street, and feels like getting away. He’ll walk over to the cathedral, and he’ll shimmy up a drain pipe, all the way to the roof. One dark midnight, Bones has the strange feeling that he is not alone on the cathedral roof. He looks around, and his eyes meet a face. It’s a girl, about his age. “YO--what you doing up here girl?” “I could ask you the same, boy, but I won’t. I’m up here because I feel like getting away from it down there. Everyone down there wants me. I’m Gwendolyn, what do they call you.” “I’m Bones, and everyone wants me too, ain’t it great?” “Yeah, it’s great to be alone sometimes.” Gwendolyn and Bones sit and talk until the sun just peeps over the horizon. Then they fall asleep, and wake-up about three in the afternoon. They're hungry. Bobby |

Gwendolyn... "Gwen" possible meanings are "white:" or "blessed", while "dolen" is "ring", "hair", or "brow". Taken together, perhaps a blessed white ring around the brow. Halo? And atop a church... angle? However is works out, I don't think Bones could find a better friend atop the world. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

Thanks Andrew, Gwendolyn is one of my favorite names for girls. I have two daughter, Bridget, and Roxanne. If I had a third, she would have been Gwendolyn. This poem is inspired by the kids here in the hood, who do the drainpipe thing on a large old church building just across the street that is now a party center. Bobby |

Ahh, I see we have something in common, two daughters. Mine are Nicole and Heatherlyn. And like you, I've always been partial to Gwendolyn... it was sort of the jumping point for Heatherlyn's name. Peace. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

Two each... good for you... my wife and I decided to stop at two girls... didn't want to be out-numbered. ![]() "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

I like this new character that you have created. There is a lot of potential material that you can use in the future in the ongoing saga of Bones. |
