Hmmmm...in this room, cannot the wisdom and the memories be interchanged among the sexes? Probably so...and probably the very reason it can be so painful. Interesting write, Spiros, but then, you never fail to amaze me. Never. |

I have never been in that that room. I understand what these rooms are, but I have never been there. I think I have lived a sheltered life. ~ Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. ..thanks Sunshine and Jerry..Sunshine, i'm not sure how to answer you, so i won't ..and Jerry, i know you've been in that room ..but, actually, that room (of the poem), in particular, was quite something; in a stately mansion, turned rooming house with a wide, wood stairway (mahogany, i think) leading to my door..right by the mountain, near downtown, it was ..there were other rooms, though, not as glamorous ..well, thank you, both, for taking the time to comment..>>spiros -------------------- ----------------------- |

It is most interesting how we play or write out our memories of a certain place...but I always welcome the underlying stories! |

..Sunshine, friend, the underlying story can fill a few volumes..1976-1981 in that particular place..next to a corner park, on the foothills of Mount Royal..sometimes i'd see the former prime minister, Trudeau, walking down the park's stairs on his way to his office..but the old goat didn't want to be on my Special Edition list to fund my first book of poems, Very Personal..even if a very famous poet had given me the first grant of $200 and the name of a printer (the special editions i presold for only $25..>>spiros -------------- -------- |

This grows more interesting by the revelations. And, it gives me something to think about on what I don't think I've written before, although my list of "meeting famous people" won't quite rank with yours. It's always the afterstory...that proves most fascinating! Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I love to learn! |

I am there, Spiros - my vision is hazy but as I look around the room more carefully and imbibe its ambiance, I can make out some shapes that I first thought were one thing, but am beginning to see are another. Yes, there is pain over there to the left of the door, but there is joy hidden in that corner, and wisdom on that shelf, and, in pride of place on a beautiful oak table there are thoughts born of that pain sculpted into poetry, and entering the door that you unlocked for us, there are discussions that open the curtains and bring the dawn light into the room and fill it with the glow of friendship and understanding and deep, real communication. Thank you for opening that room so that we can share it with you. Owl |
