We made love and it loomed Until father time said it was doomed Mother nature never cared for her like I did We were to build a metaphorical family The house, The kids All I need is the world to leave me be Freedom ain't free, nothing is I'm American So my birthright is capitalist I'm throwing punches at the grind It's hit and miss As long as I don't crush my fists I'll be able to write another day They say poems don't pay I say sure they do Not in money But in sanity Why do you think I haven't killed you? |

Ha! I agree, poetry DOES pay in the same way you mention. Keeps me sane at times, as well. Thank you for sharing. Enjoyed! |

Good writing! I really enjoyed this piece. "They say poems don't pay I say sure they do Not in money But in sanity" Most around here will agree with that and after a while you will find that I'm the only sane one here in the whole place. I offer advice freely. Eric |
