As a labor of love celebrates the absurd I submit that as poets we cannot be cured. Push a pen like a stone 'till it's over the top, to begin once again with the very next word. Just like Sisyphus, cursed, and unable to stop we write on though synapses are ready to pop and misfire with a spark in some curious way, Rasta man, play some chords from that ol' "Pressure Drop" The scene plays itself out, I swear day after day, gonna give it all up, put that damn stone away. "I am not Sisyphus, and this rock I'll not roll"! and write tripe such as this for which no one will pay. On my old addled pate things have taken their toll 'fraid my "memory lane" ain't no place for a stroll It's disjointed and jumbled and cracked up at best which oft' makes it quite tough to set any such goal. So it is once again I do not pass the test, as the stone rolls once more I continue my quest. It may very well be we are all Sisyphus, we who write at expense of a decent nights' rest. An insomniac tribe on the march towards the dust, as the placards we carry say "create or bust". Though Camus might have said we are happy this way, I say we only know that we do what we must. May your road of words roll smoothly Your rhyme skirt every pebble Your path follow a down hill grade Your pen never be laid level Write on, write on, write on... "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

WOW!!! I can't tell you how much I needed to hear this tonight. I'm sorry for your frustration, but glad to know I'm not the only one that feels this way, has experienced the same feelings. and as a writer I don't know if I could express it as well as you have. Good write! Thanks for the read, ~Brad |

Brad, Thanks very much. I have to admit I was intrigued by your pen-name, and have followed some of your postings here on Pip since you joined. I'm not much for comments, but have enjoyed many of your posts. As writers, always striving to improve, we throw it out there, and hopefully sometimes it strikes a chord. Be well. Doc Trina, Lol, and I must admit, that in my search for subject matter, I did the same thing! Ain't the internet great. Many thanks. Doc Drew, Ol' buddy the dog stole my homework! I replied to you first, and believe me it was rather eloquent, if but a tad long winded, and contained many thank yous and some rambling rant about entering poetry competitions this year to find out how I measure up against other contemporary poets, and had loads of thanks to all the folks at Passions who have helped to make me the raving lunatic I am today, and then it was gone. Bad Dog! Now we're both taking a flea bath! Doc |

Hmmm... well at least his diet is one of quality. Your words remind me of another PIP pooch, Ian dog European. Haa, days gone by. May your dog bless the lawn with some poetic poo-etry. |

I have a saying, I live to write and I write to live. A similar situation with Sisyphus I believe. Good work on this poem. ~ Some people are like a Slinky -- not really good for anything -- but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs. ~ |

Drew, Lol, "poetic poo-etry", I kinda thought I had exclusive rights to that. Doc JerryPat2, Funny you should say that, thanks. Doc I think I'll write, therefore, I am. |
