When it is Time to go ~ repost for lastletter challenege Not one for ceremony, pomp or high tea. leave me be. Tears may flow, weep if you must, but as for me, life has ended as it should. Neither sighs nor tears from me when it is time to go Prefer I that laughter spreads and lightens up the room, and smiles and good memories are shared. I want no tears or gloom. Go ahead and laugh and tell the stories of the past. It needs be done. For tears and laughter are related so. Death is but release from earthly meanderings. A new adventure waits. This is not death, but promises unkempt and meant to be. But spare me this, the crowded room with soft whispers of time gone by. I prefer to see my friends and share the past now, and so I plan to visit, laugh and share the good times we have had, not have them gaping at my silent body lain to rest. latearrival |

Thank you all, This is an old one but I thought it would fit the challenge. I still feel the same way and the older I become the more I understand the reasoning behind it. best to all. latearrival/jo |

"For tears and laughter are related so." It seems I am finding more and more truth in this line every day. What a beautiful and scary thing it is that the two cannot be separated. It is so good to read you again, my friend. GG |

You have exceeded the challenge, Jo. Me, I'm going to arrange for a party...a good ol' Irish wake, with laughter and stories abounding, even if my friends have to make 'em up. |

Sunshine, My first funeral was for my grandfather.I was a young bride and pregnant.I wore a nice black dress to the funeral parlor. When I came in I heard,"she looks like a young widow" I walked up and stood at the casket and I cried and sobbed and screamed out,"this is not my grandfather, where is my grandfather" My equally young husband hurried to my side and took me out side. My second experience was a wake for my father in law and it was an "Irish wake" as you mentioned, held in the apratment he and his wife had shared. I was shocked when I walked in to see my mother in law and all her family sitting around the table playing word games and LAUGHING! But now I am grown and now I have learned and understand. Yes have a party and I will be there in spirit. |
