I Thank you . . . A deVine Challenge |

Poet deVine's Challenge: Write a poem in the form of a love letter - it can be to anyone and it can be affirming love, saying goodbye to love (Dear John style) or could be a love letter to a child or parent or friend. I have wondered how to word these few rambling thoughts I need to declare to you. For, after all has been said and done, it is to you I pen this letter. An epistle to you, for I feel spiritual tonight for some reason. A sense of divine aura has settled o'er me as I sit before the keyboard, typing out these long-needed-to-say words. I thank you, Mother. That needs to be said, and now I have said it. I thank you for raising me as well as you could. Though we had our problems, and I blamed you for many things, I understand you were driven, as was I in my later years. I thank you, Marionette, for giving me Paula, my daughter. it took her many, many years to track me down. She found me and discovered truth. There is no blame. We were young Much too insecure and much too young. I thank you Nanette. You were the flower that made me smile. You are gone now, I can't look into your beautiful brown eyes and say I would give my life if I could speak to you about the beautiful daughter and handsome son we made together. Patricia and I communicate, isn't that wonderful? Nick acknowledges me, barely. I understand, and it is good. I thank you Dottie for rescuing a fragile soul one night with chicken and dumplings. You were strong when I was weak, I did the same for you. I was a vagabond, you tagged along. We both had a past. We both talked them out. We were good for each other. I thank those of you who knew me during my frantic years, decades really. Those who touched me in one way or another, who reached out a hand in friendship, trying to find the words, words to say that would make a difference in my life. I remember you. I have never, ever forgotten you. ~ What's The Difference Between Roast Beef And Pea Soup? / Anyone Can Roast Beef. ~ |

The lack of guile coupled with obvious sincerity make this offering an endearing insight into a gentleman who seems to have made his peace with his loves and his life. Well done, m'friend. |

In each love, you found a soul - mate... someone you would bond with for your whole life.... none to replace the other; each an individual in their own right... And they? They all shared a remarkably special gentle man. No, don't argue with me the finer points of your character... it is not required just now. Just know, that I know, and for now? That is enough. You took this challenge, Jerry, and made it beautiful. |

A lovely letter. With age comes a 'sight' into our soul that lets us see what's really important from our past. These ladies were also lucky to have known you. |

Jerry, it is so true that many wait too late to say thank you to those that have helped shape their lives~~ You did it well. M |

You are correct, M, and some never do, and that is a shame. Some would say too little, too late, but I do not adhere to that philosophy. Anytime is the right time to give thanks where thanks is due. Thank "you" for being here. ~ What's The Difference Between Roast Beef And Pea Soup? / Anyone Can Roast Beef. ~ |

You know, Lori, I do consider myself a fortunate man. I have contact with my children. I have made peace with my wrongs, although they were wrongs nothing can be done about them now, and therefore I accept them as the past and carry on. Thank you for being here. ~ What's The Difference Between Roast Beef And Pea Soup? / Anyone Can Roast Beef. ~ |
