Ah, what a shame, there was a time When wit and mighty thew- Could carve an empire with a sword I know this to be true. When he who dared to risk it all On one throw of the die Might win a kingdom, maiden's hand Or treasure ten foot high. Gi' me the days of Holy Grails- Of lances, blade, and mail- With death the price of lethargy And shame if one should fail. Ah, shame! tis better far, my friend To die, than suffer shame And bring reproach and worse upon A sterling fam'ly name. I want a dragon to confront- With deadly, fiery breath- Or Norman knight in armor black To joust at dawn wi' death. I want a bloody Brigatine- To take her round the Horn- To have me own bloodthirty crew Defying death wi' scorn. I want a planet all me own- To govern as I will- Adventure and excitement Of which I'd drink me fill... And ere me locks grow white as snow And I grow short o' breath- I'd like to face a worthy foe And lay me down in death. No shame is there in being killed And falling in defeat- The shame, me boy, will only come To cravens who retreat. |

I enjoyed the poem, John, but wouldn’t like the dragon to get hurt or slain – smiles - but appreciate and love and agree with the concept of honour before (almost) everything. I would also not like you to be defying death – we need you around for a long while yet! Smiles. But yes, your poem is called Whimsey, thank goodness! My new puppy has chewed through my power cable. I hope I can get one today, but may not be able to get one until Wednesday, if at all as my laptop was bought in 2007. I don't have much battery power left and I need to try to save some battery power left to send the messages to Linda (Earth Angel) from my thread in Announcements every day, if at all possible. Just explaining why I possibly won’t be able to respond to any poems for a while after a couple today. Owl |

Makes me want to be a maiden in distress just to see your knight in shining armor! Lori |
