A Child Taken Too Soon

My old boss (site director) lost her son almost 2 years ago. He was shot and killed. I wrote what I thought she would be thinking at the time I wrote this poem.

He was only 19 years old
The only child
that I would ever have
My precious son
and now he is gone
for being in the wrong
place at the wrong time
Shot down in cold blood
Never to be held in my
arms ever again
So distraut I was
that I could not go
identify my own sons body
Sent my husband in my
place instead
I still can't believe
my precious son is now dead
I loved him so much
It just is not right
to out live my child
To bury my child
He was taken too soon
I will forever morn
the loss of my only son
Never forgetting this day in time
Until the day I die

this is really sad...although i don't have children i can imagine how horrible it must be to lose a child especially so young...

There must be a poem in here somewhere.
