Prisoner There are eyes that perceived her – that perceive her still, wailing like a banshee piercing the midnight hollow eyes she cannot see through mists of denial and obligation pressing her forward, ever onward towards a solitary, isolated goal… silence There is a person in her, a person whose eyes never look up, whose shackles keep her from reaching out… for nourishment, for sustenance, for life She is prisoner prisoner to her own walls, her own beliefs… her own needs She calls the heart a muscle and needs to believe it true, as if the cold and empty ache in her chest was manifest in mind the first time that heart broke She needs believe that Still, she hears the voices voices calling to her As she hunkers down in her cell – As she places fingers in her ears – as she wails and wails, a haunt to anyone who hears She will not tolerate them She will not hear them, knowing their source knowing every little humanity flaw, and we are all human, is to be paid for either by blood, or soul I sing tonight a song carried away by the wind and lost in the wailing a song ‘bout a key she doesn’t even realize she holds... about a freedom, hers for the taking, and a truth I fear I may never be able to make her see she is loved Michael Anderson |

The banshee in a person has a tendency to see, hear, or thing anything except the emptiness of their own soul. Dealing with these kind of people is tantamount to diving off the bridge and hoping the bungee cord will hold. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways ~*~ |

“She will not tolerate them She will not hear them, knowing their source knowing every little humanity flaw, and we are all human, is to be paid for either by blood, or soul” “she is loved” This write is filled with insight, and compassion. Very nice write, my friend. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

You are definitely a fount of compassion. free-verse suits you. When I wrote Alcatraz for my friend, I never dreamed something like this could be inspired by it. You do me an honor... |

JP, ...and I should know, (reflecting on my first wife here), lol... The bungee held for eight horrid years with that one... i was hoping it would snap sooner! JL, thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed. Honeybunch, thanks for stopping by, glad you enjoyed also. Nicole, well, muses can be fickle things, that's for sure. There was just something in the "Alcatraz" write that called out to me. Was hoping I did it justice. Yours is by far the better imho... I consider it my honor that this was so well recieved by you. Michael |

I sing tonight a song carried away by the wind and lost in the wailing a song ‘bout a key she doesn’t even realize she holds... about a freedom, hers for the taking, and a truth I fear I may never be able to make her see she is loved More loving or compassionate words would be hard to find... and sometimes we don't even know we hold a key until we're given reason to use it. And songs obviously don't need rhyming verses... this one is beautiful! *S* |
