Of Genius and Insanity
(Rocking one side to another)

She lives on a line
between genius and insanity…

Inside a blurred opaque blister
awaiting death or birth –
she roams across one side to the other,
inside, and veiled from inquiry.
She is supplementary and flattering
to each side, yet distinct…

Although separated by
a micro-thin membrane
each side is the equal
and she passes through
without any pain,
she understands: ‘Nowhere cannot be’
And no one cannot be nowhere
Thus her judgment –
‘If something is nowhere
that something cannot exist.’

Nonetheless, her mind is filled with a fervent love,
yet she perceives that love to be nowhere
so she then concludes,
it cannot be.

Existing to listen to her heart
inventing to be who she is.
But then she asks:
‘Who am I?
Am I seen as lovely as
I can think of me to be?’

Like a ghost she penetrates that blistered membrane
one side to the other with closed eyes
and disregarding her words from the day before,
and folding those thoughts into diverted faded whispers,
she soon begins to sing…

Her words are on one side of the blister,
and her songs on the other –
they serve to combine into her screaming,
and she arranges those sounds
so as to write another song
and another, and another…

And no one has stopped
to listen, no one can understand.
Offering her only glazed stares.
She sees and hears their words
and understands fully amazed –
‘Does no one comprehend?
I am exactly as I have been,
and I am,
In the same place
where I have always been:
It’s nowhere you can visit.’

I,  for my part, never mind the wine I have consumed tonight, am completely confused. I think I shall leave it at that.

Genius and Insanity, Mania and Despair, Life and Death... none more than a breath apart. I really like this, my friend... and the pondering it invites. *S*

JL - I'm inclined to think there's more truth and insight in this write than can perhaps be appreciated.  In any case, I think it's brilliant!

Ruth, Thank you and I like the “no more than a breath apart” idea.

‘If something is nowhere

She hasn't met Schrödinger's cat, then.  lol sorry, waxing quantum for a minute.

I think there's a bit of this that a lot of people can relate to; I certainly know that I can.

LOL , from quantum physics to a place which cannot be nowhere, else it wouldn't be...
I think you have something here.
Darn you hurt my brain thinking about that!

Thanks Nichol, you made my day!!

JL, this is an amazing write.  Forgive me for not replying to it sooner...  I have read it many times now,  and always with a profound silence looming over me when I am done.  Words alone cannot expressd for me the appreciation i have for this one, I have deduced.  It touched me on a very personal level.
