Shy

If I could pour out my words so clear,
I would be
a babbling brook at your ear…
However,
for that I am much too shy

So…
I will consider my voice
mere and well-hidden inside –
my thoughts a honeycomb
with buzzing bees
moving down from my head
to my wobbly knees,
down to my toes and back again
tingling and mingling in
my now somewhat
flimsy mind…

And…
all the while I smile;
and I think of you
as the sweetest of honey
teeming with life
filling all of that which is missing
in my coy, routine being “dot, dot, dot”

Yes, and…
If poetry could win
A day with you
I would boldly say
words of rhyme
without any shame
even the shrew
I would seize by the collar
And tame.

For You!

But alas,
I die,
after all,
I am a bit too shy…

Maybe all shy people would become more bold if they expressed their feelings with poetry?

I am sure the world would be a better place if more people read it to each other..

This is a fun poem, about something serious. I like it when a poet can pull that off...It shows they have talent in their expresive art.

There is always a bit of this person in everyone, to some degree...whether they admit it or not.  I agree with ice here.  To me, sometimes there is nothing more poignant than a shy poet unfurling through words.

Ice, your kindness is appreciated.
You are so right; some people should be more expressive.
It is always great to get a reply from you, my friend.

Lori, I am absolutely blushing…
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

Jerry, thank you sir!!

Nicole, I thank you from the bottom of my heart
And I agree with you and ice…

Sometimes we just need simple and nice and ...
Those lovely little ellipsis

And charming poets who would tame a shrew...
as if they could

[had to come back and make an edit, the above came from my Kindle Fire - and apparently I'm still learning how to operate it! ]

Wow, I really liked this, JL.  Can especially relate to the ending... a death in which there is no chance to make up for lost opportunities.   As much as I've always thought shyness to be an admirable trait, this kind of makes me second guess that.

Michael, Glad you like.
I guess it all depends on the relativity of
Shyness to: want, need, and desire;
The emotional impact, sweetness of the honey,
and probably the time of day.
But you never know.

Thanks for buzzing-bye...

Nice one, JL. I've often thought about shyness and wondered why it should be.  It can be agony for some until they ... grow out of it.

Thank you, Helen.
I think Shyness is necessary for
a type of self-protection.
Insecurities...
Sometimes over politeness?

No, you don't come through as a shy Poet, JL! This delightful poem proves that.

Of course shyness has made more victims than boldness I guess. Not daring to speak up in love matters can be fatal ... and if both involved "subjects" are shy? Nothing goes, that is sure! So many missed opportunities!

Enjoyed your ponderings!
