stretched as far as I could toward the sky giggling like a schoolgirl as I fell with a thud from grace in the immoral clutches of my Sunday School teacher having bitten into the flesh of life savored the saccharine for sweetness had been laced with dread walked down scary roads entered into heretofore unknown worlds lustful and bloody tasting bright lights quenching my thirst at the LastChance Lounge and Fleshpit social order run amok took my shoes off rolled up my pantslegs and wallowed into the deep-end of the sewer I attacked the world, both fist clenched gritting my teeth giving no quarter, asking for none saw things which trouble me still not such a nice place out there but then I wasn't looking for nice old now never ever thought this far ahead when I thought at all thought I'd be room temperature long before now just goes to show you even bad has a chance ©November 30, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton |

so true Jerry - most of us have seen/done some bad in our lives, you are not alone and as we age we we make up for all the bad hopefully and yes we all deserve a second chance ~hugs~ Love is the life of the soul... |

quote: What a great metaphore for being balanced, dear Jerry! No doubt we all carry our heavy loads of experiences with us, but in the moment we realize that we are where we are because of what's in our past - included the strong "turbulences" - then we can put down the heaviness and feel the lightness that allows us to be grateful and to begin each day with new enthusiasm. Great job once again! Margherita |

Yep, tracie66, second chances are what life is all about I believe. By then we have learned how to make these second chances magical. Thank you for being here. <><> Margherita, you are so right. When we are old enough to understand a bit more about this life of ours we are generally more giving and open with people. Thank you for reading and commenting on my poem ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

You're such a great poet Jerry. I remember when I first read a poem by you years ago and how impressed I was. Since then your poetry has taken on a new voice and you keep getting better and better. Here's to many more years before you become "room temperature". Namaste my friend, Marcia |
