TOUGH COOKIE
7 January 2012

No matter my income-generating computer is threatening this
and my power cable that
and my mortgage loan provider this
and my panic that,
and no matter whatever darts
are thrown at me,
bring it on, for,
like another Diana,
I
will
survive
all this
and more
and
my blood will run warm
and clot
at the appropriate place
and time.

"my blood will run warm
and clot
at the appropriate place
and time"

Yes, I believe it will,
As attest:
Your fierce arrows loosed
On the evils of *"manunkind"
Its "income,"
"Cables,"
And "mortgages";

Your words doom them,
Your pen is the silver bow,
And the tip of your fletch
Is dipped in blood ink,
Written on the parchment of the moon.

*e e cummings

Yessssssssss! Yes there is no problem that can't be solved ... and Diana will solve it, no doubt!

But still I do hope that your pc behaves like a good girl!

Okay. This is good writing and very good summation, Owl. Impressive, gut-wrenching and kickass.

Thank you, Ford.  Smiling at my “fierce arrows”.  I particularly love that last line of the ee cummings  quote.

Thank you, Margherita.  Lilian, the laptop is trying to be a good girl, but she is not feeling well.

Thank you, Jerry.  Smiles.  I just need to keep it up!

Diana
The only part of my reply that is not in my own words are what I quoted from your poem, and the ee word "manunkind" I did the * thing there to note that I did not make up the word....:-)

"pity this busy monster,manunkind"

I
I like the end lines to that poem...:-)

"listen:there's a hell
of a good universe next door;let's go"

Just wanted to clear that up.

Diana, I love all the responses to your poem, but moreso, I gravitate to the strength within and the knowledge that there are some things the world simply can not touch.... also adore Ice's response.

Add my admiration!     ~K

I don't doubt for one minute that you are one tough cookie, Diana.  I was having some internet problems myself and was off for a few days (hate that) Good luck with yours.

Oh, wow, Ford!  (I missed the asterisk denoting a footnote, reading in a rush because of the computer problems), so that excellent quatrain was yours – and about me!  Exquisite, especially that last line.  Thank you.  It didn’t sound like ee cummings – I should have realised.  Giggles at the last lines of the ee cummings poem.  I knew the delightful word “manunkind”, but didn’t remember that it came from ee cummings.  Thanks for clearing all of that up.  Smiles.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR, Marcia.  We make magnificent lionesses don’t we?  Thank you.

Thank you for your wonderful reply, Karen.  Yes, Ford’s reply is lovely.

Thank you, Tracie, I will.  Smiles!

Thank you, Ida.  Lilian, my laptop, is having surgery tomorrow.  There were also some matters, not computer-related, that I didn’t give details on, that are difficult to contend with – but, as I say, I am a tough cookie, lol!
