I can relate to this... the picking and choosing of each word, carefully, so as not to disclose that emotion screaming on the inside of you.  Excellent write, JL.

Okay, on the second try I was able to read it, JL. To love someone and you are forbidden to shout that love to the world, and can only shout it to yourself is a painful price to bear.

I enjoyed the read, JL, but I'm beginning to think that the longing for a love that cannot be is such a waste of energy and yet, and yet, we spend it so freely, don't we?

Oh what a feeling... it made my heart give a bit of a squeeze.  That's a hard row to sow.

fantastic write, loved the emotion and the pic adds to the imagery indeed.

Ah, but what a bitter price that is to pay. Seems too hard to knot that heart so tightly that no one else can get in. Speaking from experience here, a knotted heart can often forget how to beat. So loose the heart and let it beat with passion for sometimes a broken heart is better than no heart at all.

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Ahh, the sweet longing that hurts and yet how good it feels to put it into words!

And you do it well. Lovely work. I enjoyed Elizabeth's reply, as I agree with her. The mere thought of a knotted heart speaks to me of   a garden that withers for lack of sunshine.

Hoot, you bet.  But silence is golden, and keeping the beats to ones self can be rewarding.
Thank you for the nice reply.

I'm not sure we get to pick and choose those we truly love. Sometimes, it seems to me that love tangles like a piece of thread which keeps knotting when you try to sew something up just right... and leaves a lot of loops that unravels everything when cut.  A knotted heart makes for a strange arythmia, which can drum so hard you'll swear it's sending smoke signals, when you try to keep it silent.

I like this one very much, but it holds a sadness, too.

If you were indeed not that one,
That I should love,
I would nonetheless

Even if the words can't be spoken, the love exists... it doesn't go away just because it can't be shouted... or returned. This is bittersweet and beautiful and went straight to my heart... both poem and presentation are incredible!
