A picture of me, icefishing...winter of 2003. My friend said the aura was not visible through the aperture.

Captured, sheltered-
My information shows as matter
Presented aglow,
By something relative,
Time and distance related;

Somehow it discovered me,
Its mass and I both traveling,
At the speed of light squared.

The fireball, as day is going
Seeks to drop behind trees
That stretch twig-fingers
As if to balance
But only for  moments,
As the sun has appointments,
And so must make retreat

Just before sinking,
It strikes its last kindle
Firing  the leafless tops
With  roman candle sparks
That cool,
Then fall in visible bubbles
Of purple/blue-violet

The descending circles
Seek gravity--falling apples
Linger around before
Being absorbed
In an aura/halo surround
That I believe
Protects me from enemies

In a shutter instant,
The universe is planck constant,
One that can't be measured-
My vibrations cannot be divided
Into life's fractions...
I sit still
Inside a domed vacuum-
Warm... though the air outside
Is a steady ten degrees

Ford, what a wonderful experience and memory, encapsulated so perfectly by your poem and photo which are as magical and breath-taking as each other.

A lovely depiction...
quote:
I sit still
Inside a domed vacuum-
Warm... though the air outside
Is a steady ten degrees

Great use of symolism throughout... I know how fast that complete blackness can come.  I also know what it's like to feel warm with nothing but bitter frost all around you.  Nicely done.

Thank you...those moments don't come often,
but I look for them...a habit I guess.
Finding the right words to say what those moments might mean, now that's the hard part.
...Thank you for enjoying both.

Michael
Yes, "complete blackness" comes quickly.
I sometimes stay after dark on a lake, because of it...
"Bitter frost", can be primal sweet.
Thanks for the reply.

Jerry
"Wow" is a very good complement...I'll take a heartfelt
"wow" anyday..
Thank you.

No "ice wizard", although I can smell fish under the ice..lol
I catch every species of fish that is native to Pa., and some that are not.
Moving constantly untill I find them.
Perch, Crappies, Bluegills, Bass, Trout etc... I am addicted.
Thanks for the reply.

You live in the tropics, BG, it is 3 degrees in north central Pa.
There has been no safe ice this year yet..
I hope this stiffens up the lakes.
I am going stir crazy..

Discovery is everything, E.G.

But who discovers what? Sometimes I look at a tree , and reverse "regular" thought..and I wonder how long this tree has been looking for me, to show me its beauty?

Thanks for reading, and the reply.

Dear Ford, there is such a concentration of breathtaking beauty in your poem, that I am moved, deeply moved actually. Every stanza emanates fascination and the whole of it just becomes the fireball you experienced. Some deed!

While you dream of fish when the lake freezes I dream of skating ... but would that disturb the fish?

Wonderful creation. Oh, and the picture is sooo inspiring too!

the quantum of action... in a poem.  BRAVO

I am very taken with this.  It displays that art and science can be very, very good friends.  Love it.

Skating doesn't bother the fish under ice..their blood is almost congealed
by the temperature...39 degrees on the bottom, no matter what the air temp
is above the guild..
The grace of gliding blades above them causes no start....

But your reply instills a start in me...a lovely startle it is.
Thanks for reading, and the reply......

"quantum action"...love that......:-)
I received a biography of Stephen Hawking for Christmas...
I think some of this poem is caused
by reading the story of this mans astounding life.
Thank you for reading, and the reply
