*
In midst of the desert
I howl my yearning
into the attentive silence
of an impending starlit sky
draped around my shoulders
as they shudder for the loss
of your heart shaped skin-cape.

The brilliance of the stars
assembles into a laser beam
aiming at the core of my heart.
With raised arms I stand
under this divinely orchestrated
shower of condensed light
and let myself be engulfed by love.

Candid little teeth of mercy
free me of the thorns
I gathered when I wandered
the lacerating trail of pain.
Tender angel lips brush
over the residual small scars
which dissolve one by one
into the sea of forgiveness.

Overwhelmingly
engulfed by love
I expand to merge with the sun
embracing the whole world.
Visions of peace delight me.

White sheets flutter
in midsummer heat
absorbing pollen
carried by the breeze
preparing to be the canvas
for my future dreams.

Engulfed by love
I am lifted off the ground.
Effortlessly I climb
the giant mountain
of the granitic debris
of all of our sorrows.

On top of it
I inhale billows
of summer scented air
that lingers long
within my soul
before I exhale it again
in sweet bits of radiance ...

that will touch you
with its tiny kisses of light,
for love knows no distance
nor any kind of hindrance.

This is a deeply moving story of finding that love we all so often want and need. Your detail is amazing, and I felt I was standing beside you out there in that desert, Margherita.

There was a time-frame when I spent a lot of time on our southwest deserts and when you're out there in the vastness, the emptiness (of people) and the sounds and sights and smells . . .
you can't help but be a different person, and see everything differently, or run back to "humanity" in fear and confusion.

Enjoyed this...

Thank you, dear Nicole, for your loving comment. We know the truth of love's power, but we sometimes have to remind ourselves of it ...

I have been paid a great sum for the time I have spent reading this poem, M
A more generous poet, is hard to find.
Thank you for the payment of enjoyment this morning...but I look at this stanza as an extra added bonus to that salary..

"Candid little teeth of mercy
free me of the thorns
I gathered when I wandered
the lacerating trail of pain.
Tender angel lips brush
over the residual small scars
which dissolve one by one
into the sea of forgiveness."

Martyjo, dear friend, and you constantly please me with your loving comments. Thank you so much.

I have a busy time ahead of me and I will be less present on Pip, but will certainly peek in whenever I get the chance.

Love and hugs.

Margherita- This is overwhelmingly beautiful. If you can express this well in your third language, your words in your native tongue must truly be miracles.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "WHAT A RIDE

"love knows no distance

Absolutely right, Margherita!  Your words always lift the reader up to greet the love you know so well and express so well.  I exit with a contented sigh.  Thank you.

"And let myself be engulfed by love"

"For love knows no distance
nor any kind of hindrance"

These are my favorite lines.
Being engulfed by love can  be beautiful, intoxicating and scary.
Real love is patient, kind, understanding and as you said, Margherita, without distance or hindrance.
Enjoyed your poem, Ms. E

Isn't it amazing how even a pinprick of light will dispel gloom and shed the warmer glow of hope upon one's path and thought?  So much in this poem, Margherita ....  I had to read it several times, and still could go back again.

Your gentle heart beams.

Thank you, dear James, for your most loving comment!

Dear Ringo, it's nice to see you on Pip again! Your most generous comment made my day. I do think that my English teacher (I had my first English lessons in Switzerland when I was 15) would be quite proud too if he had the opportunity to read my poetry, as he said back then that I had the talent to learn the language well. I do think that I have a "good ear", but of course it's still a foreign language and sometimes I do say "funny things". Pip and Pip Poets do have their merits too for giving me the opportunity to improve my skills. I do write in German still but not very often, but I love my native tongue very much of course! Thank you again!

Dear Helen, thank you so much. Your "contented sigh" gives me joy!

Dear Ebonygirl, thank you so much for your kind comment, I enjoyed your considerations. You are right. I think we are IMMERSED in love and when we are aware of this truth, it is overwhelming in its beauty.

Dear Karen, such a beautiful comment from you too, thank you so much, dear Poetess.

Thank you from my heart, dear Alison, I much enjoyed what you said. Funny, after writing my words to Ringo, I had a call from Switzerland from a friend and I learned that our English teacher is well and alive and still lives at the lake of Zurich. He is one of those teachers whom everybody remembers with gratitude.

Love and joy.
Margherita

Every line of this is beautiful and the whole is incredible! But the 3rd stanza and the last lines are ones I keep going back to again and again... the healing and the reaching out to another really touch me. This is exquisite!!
