Clothe me in the mirth of tabrets and tin dreams, leave me bruises marked by lilacs, and nothing else, drink deep of the body’s nectar and break apart the words that bind us, mandolin and amber, names for the daughters we will never have, bring forth moths to gnaw the edges of an hour of stalled pendulums, humming in their dark spectrums, all silken fire and angry grace, as I pull around me this shawl of rain, for like Gretel, I have learned where the sugar lies in the dark, dark center of myth, night closes around me like a fist and I am nothing but a broken spell, a fever, a fever, red falling prey to whiskey’s sour hymn, flush as the lining of a heart, and the azaleas, ceaseless, split apart my palm. |

Damn! You just reach into the reader's body cavity and grip hard when you do your thing, Baby Doll. You are so very good with your fascinating wordplay. Excellent! ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (01-01-2012 09:28 PM).] |

"I am nothing but a broken spell, a fever, a fever, red falling prey to whiskey’s sour hymn, flush as the lining of a heart, and the azaleas, ceaseless, split apart my palm." OK, "Baby Doll" the title drug me in only to get a bit of a taste of tart. But that's just me... I am sure there is more sugar here than meets the eye. But then again, lemon and sugar are a great combo. I do enjoy the way you can sew words together and make an enjoyable read. Very nice B.G... I am so glad to see you back here writing of those delicious dark and daring thoughts that make you who you are. I read your books all the time, and you are like an extremely rare and good wine for the mind. Would love to see you and Michael take on something. Just know I read and admire. Happy New Year! |

Such writing. You leave me with all my senses reeling. Okay, I did have to look up "tabret" (what a great Scrabble word) and my dictionary did not have it. Thank God for Google ...or I would not have slept. Honestly. This poem just brushes against me. It's perfection. A |

Thank you for all the encouragement and support of my lunacy! I love to experiment with language...sometimes it's a successful experiment...sometimes it is a flop...but I do appreciate you entertaining it with an open mind! ~write-on~

mandolin and amber, names for the daughters we will never have, If I'd read no farther, I would have loved this, just for those lines. *S* But there were more lines to read... and they were superb, too. |
