more cheap wine than a good song and dance looking forward to tomorrow time to turn over a new you same thing each new year lies . . . and more lies all to make us feel good about ourselves the grace of man is sorely lacking if he can delude himself so cheaply my new year's resolution is . . . who cares you don't why should we another year staring us in the face it'll be like the last one lying to yourself every chance you get not happy with this wish I could change that if only I could . . . STOP! or, as "they" say get a grip its status quo, bro, the only way to go . . . ©December 28, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

"my new year's resolution is . . . who cares you don't why should we another year staring us in the face it'll be like the last one lying to yourself every chance you get" That's intensity. Love this write, honest, to the point. Excellent write Jerry. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

Yeah, well, JL, I get tired of all the "I'm gonna do this and that," and don't follow through. This from a man who, about ten years ago weighed almost three hundred pounds. I made a resolution to lose weight and did it and have kept it off. I now weigh around 172 constantly. I watch my diet, but don't starve myself, I walk three miles a day. I'm my doctor's favorite patient because she told me years later that the first time she saw me she said to herself I'm looking at a dead man. Thanks for your presence here, man. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

It's a harsh reality, but very true. If a person can't be true to themselves and their own aspirations, at the very least, then what is there? It shouldn't take the promise of a new year, should it. |

No, Nicole, it most certainly shouldn't. I have been there, done that, but you have to grow up eventually and enough is enough. Eh, this is just one of those darn pet peeves of mine. And you are absolutely right, it shouldn't take a new year for you to want to better yourself. Thank you, Nicole, for putting your four cents in. (It was worth more than two cents.) ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |
