you know your times up
when the only one older
than you is Almighty God
still you can walk and talk
your mind is still nimble
not gone to gray oatmeal
it lets you sit and ponder
about the fire and the rain
how'll it end - with a bang
active mind begs questions
where did it all really begin
who was its rightful author
or products of ooze and mud
I have one more question
I would really like answered
who were the ones invented
the one and only original sin
I'd smile and shake their hands

"lets you sit and ponder

Nice write Jerry.
This line stood out as a key to the answer.
Enjoyed!!

Appreciate your contribution to my poem, JL. I know where your heart is in this question.

oh I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end...

I think I'd shake a hand or two myself

I do believe I've heard that song somewhere before, passing shadows. Thank you for being here.
