Her beauty conquers all - I heard it said - Yet young unsure of what it meant I sought An answer from old sources, and thus read The works of greats of yore - but still was fraught With same uncertain doubt, no words would seem The truth reveal nor cast a knowing light Onto the shadowed mind; the wildest dream Would not dispel the clouds that shaded sight -- So I touched this beauty, I felt her gaze Hot-pierce my soul, her whispers my heart stay, Her lips - the kindling - stoke my inner blaze -- To her conquest, I but a willing prey: Ah, but too late I found her hidden flame Onto my heart had seared the former claim. Thank you for stopping by and reading/commenting. Strangely, many things one does not realize at the time, till at some point one rewinds the movie of one's life...and things come into focus. Of course, this is an on-going process...always learning, and, yes, making mistakes as well - hopefully less as time goes on. CG |
