from the bowels of my swamp
endless days
long, insufferable nights
day after day
night after night
reflecting my image in the
bayou called blue
standing upright 'neath the sun
my shadow cast not
I listen to the swamp sounds
I know them like my own breath
why then can't I decipher
this new sound?
a melodious, pleasing sound
as though a hundred harps
were playing the song of my soul
it is then that I see her
a ghostly apparition at first
standing 'neath a cypress tree
wearing long, gauzy things
she floated in my direction
I held my breath when she, with a fragile hand
touched my cheek and said
I am here for you
my magic is yours

the day became night
the moon, oh the moon shined bright
my shadow appeared and smiled
my heart once grave
SwampNymph has given it her magic
I'm filled within and without
captivated forevermore by
my wondrous swamp apparition

Deeply captivating, dear Jerry! I love the magical lightness of your vision. It is not only comforting, but downright uplifting and energizing in its ethereal beauty.

Love,
Margherita

The older we get the more outlandish we are, Lori. Still, the vision was so real I fully expected the nymph to be flesh and blood . . . Silly, yes, but . . .

Good to hear about the outlandish part of growing older because the stiff and ache I was thinking about just this morning when I groaned out of bed and said "I'm not looking forward to growing older, it really is a pain."

Yeah, Lori, I agree it can be a pain, but I'm lucky, I've kept my pains and aches pretty much quiet with the help of miracle drugs and diet and walking. Hint.Hint.
