I am in Mourning November 18. Births, deaths, happen and I think I am nearing an age when things happen yet I do not fear for myself. On this date in 1908, a woman was born; on this date in 1992, a woman followed her husband to a different plane… You might be thinking, yes, so? 1980 – when a woman and man met, each with their luggage and baggage from other times, then by marriage they united by love these two very different women… And on the birth date of my very special mother-by-love, who was able to meet in 1992 my own mother just before she passed, A sequence was cemented, that it is okay to love more than one mother; that it is more than justified to gather in children as you will; to garner around your neck as if precious pearls the offspring of those your own, and if not by blood, then by love, knowing their choices affect you, but your responses to them must, at times, be reticent, as if to dispose for them any situation that would cause grief; to be giving in such a way that they will one day realize: you do it for their children so they will never know tyranny in a home. On this date, a woman born in 1908 taught me so well, that I would want to emulate her; and while I am my own mother’s daughter, my own mother passed on this woman’s birthday, and I have been reminded in the following years that this fact has emphasized the love I hold for one and the other – for they are together, holding me sane, still holding me in love, smiling, together, with their men by their side, looking down with those great grins upon all of the offspring that bless my life. I am in mourning, but for this day only, as I miss them so, I know that when the day of Thanksgiving comes I will be blessed by the mirror of their smiles in all who surround me. © KRJ 11-18-11 Dedicated to Jacqueline Sue Rilling And Mabel Marie Jungel Women who made a difference |

Oh, my dear K... I couldn't possibly pick a favorite part because I love every line... and the love that shines through every line. As you are blessed by those smiles, remember your own smiles bless us... and we are thankful. |

You have a gift of expression K. that I have rarely seen equaled. I feel for your loss, but I also feel just how much these women meant to you, how bright they shine, not only in your memory, but in your person... their gifts to you becoming our gifts. I am truly indebted to them, for what I have come to know in you. Michael |

Though you are in mourning, there is a lovely sense of morning Light radiating through your words. Love knows know bounds and the love you had for your mothers is boundless. Karilea, you are such a fine writer. ~ One whose heart brims over with deep, abiding love. God bless you. Love & Sun Light, Linda xo |
