  The Memory of Her Smile

Through the taut-pale wash
of unforgiving moonlight
a relentless Winter wind
whips the scraps of withered
leaves and broken promises
down this dirty street
   of walking shadows.
There is nothing left here ...
but the memory of her smile.

Wow! Poet Bruce! You sure know how to create a desolate atmosphere ~ yet touchingly so. I was quite moved by this hauntingly beautiful vignette.

Warm hug this chilly November day,

Very sad, but nicely written.

A smile that sparkles in the darkness gives a heart renewed vitality.

Most beautiful, dear Bruce.

Simply enjoyed the memory of her smile and how sweet and haunting it was. It's always nice to read your poems.

Bruce...the stark nature of the landscape is brightened because of this memory, even though it is no longer real.  The contrast broke my heart.

Memories of lost loved ones, are beautiful and wrought with pain... But through these memories they will live on within the deep trenches of our heart! Loved the poem!

Like Night needs Day

I need you to be complete...

Dark and lonely and sorrowful piece of writing. The kind that I like very much. You made good use of your words . . .

Haunting in the images and the feeling of lonliness that you share.

I'm terribly sorry that I missed this... what an ache this poem left in me.  Heartbreaking, and exquisitely rendered.
