Night Trip Why does the world sleep at night, So peaceful and serene? I walk with her in the starlight, Silence, she is my queen. And so I search the shadowed street, Behold, if but to share Glass slippers for the dancing feet Of Misery and Despair. The melody, a delightful charm, Wordless, I hum the tune… The fireflies sounding the alarm Of the aquatic moon. The Fates by three, taking exception, Cut short the living thread… A notion lost to its own inception, I walk amongst the living, dead. And still the world sleeps and sleeps, As I greet the starlit sky. Where every light of heaven weeps That none else herald their cry. Michael Anderson As, leaving some grand waterfall, We, lingering, list its roar- So memory will hallow all We've known but know no more. Abraham Lincoln |

"And still the world sleeps and sleeps, As I greet the starlit sky. Where every light of heaven weeps That none else herald their cry." Maybe there are others awake as well, just silent and holding their breath. Excellent write Michael, very interesting. Oh my young man... you make dark so temptingly beautiful, that I would write of her, were she to stir from your side. |

You have the gist of the dark, as Sunshine has noted. I too have equated you with that other poet who walked in the gloom and dark . . . Poe. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways ~*~ |

JL, Mayhap, but I have no other way of coaxing them out. K., Alas, I believe she is my lifelong companion. On the brighter side, I do believe she will outlive me – I’ll try not to use her all up in the meantime. JP, that’s quite a compliment… thank you. Roniece, I hope you have a good view of the stars where you live. I was in the mountains when I wrote this… not in the smog infested city I live in. The view up there was spectacular. Dixie, Thank you so much. Michael |

Glass slippers for the dancing feet Of Misery and Despair. The melody, a delightful charm, Wordless, I hum the tune… The fireflies sounding the alarm Of the aquatic moon. You give Silence voice... and she sings sweetly for her consort. *S* Gorgeous images captured in exquisite rhyme... I love every line of it! *S* |

Most beautifully expressed, dear Michael! When the night wraps its cape around us our senses become sharper ... Margherita |
