A tall grand Texan
In the trenches of a European town

Praha,
well preserved from her youth

And somehow I feel at home here
Mingling among the vagabonds
Tourists, and Educated Czech Elite

I am an artist unbound
Poet, photographer, singer
Little formal training
A Writer of meek

Upon the stories
Fellow travelers and natives
I meet

Look on me with wide eyes
tall Texas tales
Curious and Judgmental looks
As a fish in a bowl

Where does an individual belong
In this vast world at whole?

As a painter draws from his palette
Long corridoors passage ways
Walking beneath 1,000 towers tall
I pull from these these walls, pastels

Shall one find comfort
In the arms of
Ex-Communist Cold Block Company

Where survivalism and Entertainment
Seem the only ethics
They keep

In the heat of a seething sexuality
Bleeding heaving heavily, on the streets

Money and Looks
Not so different from home
Qualities of limit
We dispossess

But Beauty,
WOE beauty
We seek and find
In the music and miles
In the sunshine of your smile

Friend
OH, friend
Even if only...
a comrade for a while

Last line. Super. Whole poem great. This is a very good human interest piece of work.

Only in the artists circles of Praha could someone find a rose.

(Sometimes it is therapeutic, for curiosity’s sake, to watch fish in a bowl).

Enjoyed the depth of your writing.

“So I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun was grievous unto me; for all is vanity and a striving after wind. And I hated all my labour wherein I laboured under the sun, seeing that I must leave it unto the man that shall be after me.”
(Ecclesiastes 2:17-18 JPS)

Thanks Jerry, that means allot to me.

JL, that is a GREAT quote/verse! You don't have to be in the artists circles to find a rose in Prague, BUT you might need to be in the circle to find someone that appreciates one. :-)
